Officiating Class
Objective: To Provide The Tools To Become An Official

WHY SHOULD I GET INVOLVED?
IT'S FUN and IT'S FREE!!
- There will be 2 classes per week for four weeks
- You will get to work in Leadership Through Athletics' new 20,000 square foot youth center and gymnasium
- New referees get paid $10 per 1 hour game and increases with experience and skill
- You will be mentored by high school and college officials
- IT'S FREE!!
(Students who successfully complete the course will be required to buy their own referee shirt and whistles (~$20).)
HOW DO I KNOW IF I QUALIFY?
If you can answer "YES" to any of the following statements, then you are able to participate in our "LTA Signature" program at Leadership Gym!
- Never officiated before
- Between 14 - 18 yrs old
- Understand basic basketball
- Can work weekends
- Are good with kids (9 - 15)
- Able to learn to take control
- Desire to become a leader
This course is an eight (8) week introductory to becoming a high school certified official. The high school class is taught in the fall and runs about 3 months and concludes with a national certification exam.
[NOTE: New classes begin with every 24 students. Classes are generally Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7pm - 9pm, however, other options are available.]
